Water Damage & Delamination Repair

Diagnosis and repair of water intrusion, sidewall delamination, and hidden moisture damage in RV walls and floors.

What this service covers

A complete approach to the repair

Water damage in an RV is rarely limited to where you first notice it. A stain on a ceiling panel or a soft spot in the floor is usually the visible endpoint of moisture that has been traveling through wall cavities, along seams, or down from a roof or window leak for months. We use moisture meters and physical probing alongside visual inspection to map how far damage actually extends before opening anything up, because guessing at the boundary of a repair leads to repeat problems.

Sidewall delamination, common on fiberglass-skinned coaches, happens when the bond between the outer skin and the underlying foam or wood substrate fails, often starting at a seam, window frame, or body panel seam where water first got in. A delaminated wall can look fine from a distance but feel soft or show slight waviness in the skin, and once delamination starts it does not reverse on its own, so the affected section needs to be opened, dried, and rebuilt.

We treat water damage repair as diagnostic work first: find the entry point and stop it, map the extent of the damage, then rebuild the affected structure with correctly rated materials, because rebuilding over an active leak source just restarts the same failure.

Signs you may need this service

Soft, spongy, or wavy sections on exterior sidewalls

Ceiling or wall stains that persist or spread over time

Musty or mildew smell that does not go away with cleaning

Soft flooring or cabinetry near a suspected leak source

Visible bubbling or separation of the exterior skin from the wall

Window or door frames that no longer sit flush against the wall

How we handle it

  1. 1

    Locate the source

We identify and confirm the actual point of water entry, whether roof, seam, window, or plumbing related, before any repair begins.

  2. 2

    Map the extent of damage

We use moisture meters and probing to determine how far damage has spread through walls, floor, or ceiling structure.

  3. 3

    Remove and dry affected material

We remove compromised material and allow the area to dry fully before rebuilding, to avoid trapping moisture inside new work.

  4. 4

    Rebuild and reseal

We rebuild the structure with appropriately rated materials and reseal the original entry point to prevent recurrence.

Mobile or in-shop

Water damage assessment can often start on-site, but opening walls, drying structure properly, and rebuilding with correctly bonded materials requires the controlled environment of our Bushnell shop bay to get a lasting repair.

Questions we get

It depends on how far it has spread. Localized delamination can sometimes be addressed by opening and rebuilding that section, but widespread delamination usually requires a larger panel rebuild.
