Awning Repair & Replacement

Repair and replacement of manual and electric RV awnings, fabric, arms, and motor components.

What this service covers

A complete approach to the repair

Awnings take a beating from Florida's combination of intense sun and sudden wind gusts, which is why fabric fading, tearing, and arm failures are some of the most common service calls we get. Electric awning motors fail from worn gears, water intrusion into the motor housing, or control switch issues, while the fabric itself degrades from UV exposure and can tear at stress points near the roller tube or where it meets the arms.

We repair torn fabric where the damage is limited, but a full fabric replacement is usually the right call once material has become brittle or badly faded, since a patched awning rarely holds up as well as fresh material stretched and tensioned properly on the roller. Bent or cracked awning arms, often from a wind event that caught the awning extended, need straightening or replacement along with a check of the mounting hardware and rail, since a compromised mount is what actually causes arm failures to repeat.

We also service the spring tension in the roller tube, which loosens over time and causes an awning to sag or roll unevenly, and check automatic wind sensors on coaches equipped with them, since a sensor that is not calibrated correctly will either retract needlessly or fail to protect the awning in real wind.

Signs you may need this service

Awning fabric is torn, badly faded, or brittle to the touch

Electric awning motor runs slow, strains, or does not respond

Awning rolls out or retracts unevenly on one side

Bent, cracked, or loose arms and mounting brackets

Awning sags in the middle instead of staying taut

Automatic wind sensor retracts the awning with no wind, or fails to retract in wind

How we handle it

  1. 1

    Inspect fabric and hardware

We check fabric condition, arm alignment, mounting hardware, and roller tube tension.

  2. 2

    Motor and electrical test

For electric awnings, we test motor draw, switch function, and wind sensor calibration.

  3. 3

    Repair or replace

We repair minor fabric damage or replace fabric, arms, or motor components depending on condition and damage extent.

  4. 4

    Tension and cycle test

We set proper roller tension and cycle the awning fully to confirm even, smooth operation.

Mobile or in-shop

Awning repair and fabric or motor replacement are almost always done on-site since the awning is mounted to the side of the coach and does not require shop equipment. We bring fabric and hardware based on your awning's make and size.

Questions we get

Small tears away from stress points can sometimes be patched, but larger tears or fabric that has become brittle from sun exposure generally need full replacement since patches do not hold well on degraded material.
