Slide-Out Systems & Slide Floor Repair

Diagnosis and repair of Schwintek, rack-and-pinion, and hydraulic slide-out systems, plus slide floor and seal work.

What this service covers

A complete approach to the repair

Slide-out failures show up in a handful of predictable ways: a slide that hesitates or grinds partway out, one side that racks ahead of the other, a room that will not seal tight against the weatherstripping, or a floor that flexes or has gone soft near the slide opening. Each slide mechanism fails differently. Schwintek systems, common on lighter fifth wheels and travel trailers, rely on small motor-driven gear tracks that can strip or lose synchronization between the two rails. Rack-and-pinion and hydraulic systems on larger motorhomes fail from worn gearboxes, low hydraulic fluid, bad solenoids, or a leaking cylinder.

We diagnose the actual failure point rather than guessing, checking motor draw, gear track wear, hydraulic pressure, and alignment before recommending a repair. A slide that is out of sync side to side is often a simple resync or gear replacement, while a slide that will not hold pressure under load usually points to a cylinder or pump issue.

We also handle the structural side of slide problems: rotted or delaminated slide floors from years of water intrusion at the seal, worn slide toppers, and reinforcement of the slide room frame where flexing has stressed the walls or ceiling.

Signs you may need this service

Slide moves unevenly or one side lags behind the other

Grinding, clicking, or straining noise when extending or retracting

Slide stops partway and will not complete the cycle

Room does not seal tight, letting in drafts, dust, or water at the edges

Soft or springy floor near the slide opening

Visible gear track wear or a Schwintek motor that runs but the slide does not move

How we handle it

  1. 1

    Cycle and diagnose

We run the slide through its full cycle while checking motor draw, gear track condition, hydraulic pressure, or cylinder function depending on system type.

  2. 2

    Alignment and sync check

For dual-motor systems we verify both sides are synchronized; for hydraulic systems we check for even extension and load balance.

  3. 3

    Repair mechanism

Replace worn gears, motors, seals, cylinders, or solenoids as needed, and address any wiring or control module issues found.

  4. 4

    Seal and floor inspection

We check the slide seal for wear and the slide floor for soft spots or water damage, repairing or reinforcing as needed.

Mobile or in-shop

Diagnosis, resyncing, motor and gear track replacement, and seal work are commonly done mobile at your campsite or storage location. Slide floor replacement or structural frame repair requires the shop bay for proper access and to keep the work dry and level.

Questions we get

Most systems have a manual override or crank-out procedure, and we can walk you through it over the phone or handle it on-site if you are stuck.
