RV Plumbing, Water Systems & Tanks

Repair of fresh, gray, and black water systems, water pumps, fittings, and tank issues in RVs and fifth wheels.

What this service covers

A complete approach to the repair

RV plumbing runs through tight, flexible spaces that residential plumbers rarely deal with, using PEX, push-fit fittings, and a water pump and accumulator tank instead of municipal pressure. Common failures include cracked fittings from freeze damage or vibration during towing, a water pump that short-cycles or loses prime, and leaks at low-point drains or tank fittings that only show up after the coach has sat for a while.

We also deal with tank-specific issues: a black tank sensor reading full when it is not because of buildup on the probe, a gray tank that drains slowly from a partial clog, or a tank fitting that has cracked and is leaking into the underbelly enclosure. On luxury coaches with macerator pumps or enclosed and heated tank compartments, we check the pump, valves, and heating elements as part of the same system rather than treating them separately.

Water quality and taste complaints usually point back to the fresh water system itself, whether that is a tank that needs sanitizing, a failing check valve letting water sit stagnant, or a water heater anode that needs replacement. We trace plumbing complaints to their source rather than just clearing the immediate symptom.

Signs you may need this service

Water pump cycles on and off even with no fixture open

Low water pressure at one or more fixtures

Visible water stains or dampness in the underbelly or basement storage

Black or gray tank sensor reads incorrectly or stays stuck on full

Slow draining tanks or a persistent sewer smell inside the coach

Water tastes or smells off even after fresh fill-ups

How we handle it

  1. 1

    System pressure test

We pressurize the fresh water system and check for drops or audible leaks at fittings, valves, and fixtures.

  2. 2

    Tank and sensor check

We inspect tank sensors, valves, and low-point drains, and check for buildup causing false readings or slow drainage.

  3. 3

    Repair leaks and components

We replace cracked fittings, worn pump components, or damaged tank fittings and reseal as needed.

  4. 4

    Sanitize and verify

For water quality complaints we sanitize the fresh system and re-test taste and pressure before closing out the job.

Mobile or in-shop

Nearly all plumbing repairs, tank service, and pressure testing can be done at your site since the systems are self-contained within the coach. We bring pumps, fittings, and tank treatment supplies with us for most common repairs.

Questions we get

Solid buildup often coats the sensor probes inside the tank, giving a false full reading. We can clean this with proper tank treatment and, if needed, physically clean the sensor.
