RV Electrical Systems & 12V/120V Repair

Diagnosis and repair of 12V and 120V RV electrical systems, inverters, converters, and lithium battery conversions.

What this service covers

A complete approach to the repair

RV electrical problems tend to hide behind symptoms that look unrelated: a slide that will not move, lights that dim when the water pump kicks on, or an inverter that shuts off under load. We trace these back to their actual source, whether that is a corroded ground, an undersized converter, a failing battery bank, or a loose connection at a fuse panel that only shows up intermittently.

We work on both 12V chassis and house systems and 120V shore power and generator-fed circuits, including transfer switches, inverters, and converters. A growing number of owners are converting from lead-acid or AGM battery banks to lithium, which changes charging profile requirements for the converter, inverter, and solar controller, and we set those systems up correctly rather than just swapping batteries into an incompatible charging system.

We also handle troubleshooting for nuisance issues that are genuinely hard to chase down, like intermittent grounds, a battery that will not hold charge overnight, or GFCI outlets that trip for no obvious reason. These jobs take patience and a methodical process of elimination more than any single tool, and that is where experience with RV-specific wiring, which differs in important ways from residential wiring, actually matters.

Signs you may need this service

Lights dim or flicker when other 12V accessories run

Battery does not hold a charge overnight or drains faster than expected

Inverter shuts off or faults under moderate load

GFCI outlets trip repeatedly with no obvious cause

Slide, jacks, or awning motors run slow or hesitate

Shore power connection runs warm or shows scorch marks at the plug

How we handle it

  1. 1

    Load and voltage testing

We test voltage drop, battery condition, and amperage draw under load at the panel and at suspect circuits.

  2. 2

    Trace the circuit

We follow wiring from the fault point back through connections, fuses, and grounds to isolate the actual failure.

  3. 3

    Component repair or replacement

We repair connections, replace failed converters, inverters, or batteries, and correct undersized or damaged wiring.

  4. 4

    Full system verification

We test all affected circuits under real load, including simultaneous accessory use, before considering the job complete.

Mobile or in-shop

Electrical diagnostics and most repairs, including battery, inverter, and converter replacement, are done on-site at your location since the system is built into the coach. Complex rewiring or lithium conversions involving component relocation are sometimes better suited to the shop bay for cleaner access.

Questions we get

Yes, but we check your converter, inverter, and any solar charge controller first, since lithium batteries need charging profiles those components may not support without adjustment or replacement.
